Day 3 - Sunday, May 8 - HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!
The rain had stopped in the morning but it was wet, fogging and the wind was very strong. Unfortunately the morning started by cross into the Grayson Highlands early in the hike but the dense fog made it difficult to enjoy it's beauty. After the fog lifted the scenes were beautiful. The landscape is bald knobs, open fields which a few challenging rock gardens to walk through. Traveled 17.5 miles on Sunday to Hurricane Shelter. The evening produced the best weather yet. Nice camp fire, dinner and an early bedtime.
