Back on the trail. I dropped Bruce off at 9:00 in Damascus, VA to start his second season on the AT. It was chilly but a clear sunny day. Packed, ready to go, and prepared. Well almost. We had to stop at two outfitters as he forgot his spork, an important item on the trail. But no problem, we found one. He hiked 16.1 miles and made it to Lost Mountain shelter. Following is his short text to me.
I got some pictures but are able to get them to post. His plan is to go about 12 Miles Saturday.
- Damascus to Lost Mtn Shelter 16.1 miles. Weather overcast, rain and hail in the afternoon. Arrived at Saunder shelter at 1:10 so went on to Lost Mtn. shelter. Arriving at 4:30. There is approx. 15 at the shelter tonight and I'm camping. Dinner was outstanding....Goulash😎. Feet ok but tired will turn in early tonight.
